If you are looking for inspiration in designing your model railway, there is a large amount of materail available.  New Railway Modellers, provides a wealth of useful information on all aspects of model railway design and construction.  Build a Model Railway, a blog by model railway expert Robert Nash, also provides plenty of very useful information.

For designing layouts, we would suggest a useful and free design tool called XTrkCAD.   It can be quite tricky to get the hang of initially, but printing the beginners guide and following it step by step is the best way to get to know the software.

Here are some designs that we have produced in the past.  We hope these offer an indication of
Cambridge Train Shopthe type of layout that can fit onto baseboards of various sizes.  All of the layouts below were designed with Peco Setrack.
