Our uniqiue Storage
Cassettes / Docking Port system are designed to solve the problem of
turning trains in a fiddle yard, and are ideal for storing trains.
The system allows trains to drive off the railway via the
docking port and straight into either end of the storage cassette.
The cassettes are made with two aluminium L
shaped extrusions
mounted
on a 9mm plywood base. Both ends of the cassettes have
plywood sides which are slotted to take a 4mm plywood drop which
prevent loose stock rolling out of the cassette.
Either
end of the cassette can mate with the docking port. This is
fitted with steel spring fingers which align the cassette with the port
and provide and electrical connection. A plastic insert in the port
acts as a re-railer.
The cassettes can be made in any length and in any gauge. As a guide a
34'' cassette in OO will take a large loco and two coaches, a 44''
cassette will take a large loco and three coaches.
