Baseboards - Order by Email, Pay on Collection:  We are able to offer customers a significant discount for collecting from our workshop in Chesham, Buckinghamshire.  Simply email us your order and preferred collection date and we will respond to confirm price and availability.  Payment can then be made on collection (see baseboard page for details).

Custom Built Layouts: In order to meet increasing demand for baseboards and ready to run layouts, unfortunately we can no longer offer the custom built layout service enjoyed by previous customers.  We still offer the custom build baseboard building service (see baseboard page for details).

If you require guidance on designing and building your model railway, here are a couple of useful sites:

XTrkCAD - An excellent and free model railway design tool.  Quite tricky to get the hang of initially, but print off the beginners guide and follow it step by step and you'll be designing your own layout in no time.

New Railway Modellers - a wealth of useful information from design and baseboard building to track wiring and scenery.

About Us

B & R Model Railways was established in 2003 with the aim of assisting railway modellers in achieving their ambition; to own a fully Galleryfunctional, reliable model railway.

The company owner, Ron Nettleton, has more than 45 years experience in building and operating model railways.  He has built model railways to fit garden sheds, lofts, garages and spare rooms in most popular scales and gauges such as N, OO, OO9, O14 and O.

Ron has been a member of Chesham Model Railway Club for 35+ years during which time he built and exhibited a fine scale O14 narrow gauge layout Ha'penny Bridge (see gallery for images).
